Services

The many services Sunland offers fall into four basic categories: Inpatient Christian Science
Nursing Care, Outpatient Christian Science Nursing Care, Rest and Study, and Telephone Consultation.
Please review the detailed explanations of each to learn how we may best assist you or a loved one.
Usually a consultation with Sunland's Director of Christian Science Nursing is required to assess the care needs and
the level of care required for each patient.
Inpatient Christian Science Nursing Care
Christian Science nurses lovingly attend to the practical needs of those who are having physical difficulties such
as eating or retaining food, breathing, moving about, who are presently receiving care in bed, have any kind of
wound, or are overcoming the effects of a fall. Medicare coverage may be available for some of these
services.
All Christian Science Nursing Care patients are required to be receiving daily Christian Science
treatment from a Christian Science practitioner listed in a current issue of The Christian Science
Journal and are expected to be actively studying and practicing Christian Science.
Patients receive one or more of the following daily services:
- Personal care
- Full bed care, housekeeping, and laundry services
- Delicious home cooked meals
- Preparation of special meals and nourishment, including food modification
- Individual feeding
- Cleansing and bandaging of wounds
- Special care when overcoming effects of a fall or injured limb
- Mobility assistance
Christian Science nurses also help patients to make regular use of our many spiritual resources. These include the
Weekly Bible Lesson Sermon (available in audio, video, and large print formats); Christian Science
periodicals (a complete library of present and back issues); inspirational tapes and compact discs;
reference books; local church services broadcast to each room; and, in-house hymn sings.
